Overview of the process

Applying for a UK Sponsor License involves several stages. Here is an overview of the typical process:

1.    Initial Assessment: Before starting the application, we will conduct an initial assessment to determine if your business meets the eligibility criteria for a sponsor license.

2.    Application Preparation: Once we confirm your eligibility, we can begin preparing your sponsor license application. This involves gathering the necessary documentation, such as proof of business registration, financial records, HR systems, and compliance processes. You will also need to assign individuals within your organization specific roles, such as Authorising Officer, Key Contact, and Level 1 User, who will be responsible for managing the sponsorship duties.

3.    Online Application Submission: The sponsor license application is submitted online through the Home Office's Sponsor Management System (SMS). We will assist you with this. You will need to provide detailed information about your organisation, its activities, and the roles you intend to sponsor. It is crucial to provide accurate information and ensure the information provided aligns with the required criteria.

4.    Supporting Documents Submission: Along with the online application, you will need to submit supporting documents to validate the information provided. We will do this on your behalf. These documents may include financial, job descriptions, and other relevant documentation. It is essential to ensure that the supporting documents are organised, complete, and meet the Home Office's requirements.

5.    Payment of Application Fee: The sponsor license application requires payment of a fee, which varies depending on the size and type of organisation. The fee must be paid at the time of application submission.

6.    Compliance Visit: After submitting the application, the Home Office may conduct a compliance visit to your business premises. During the visit, an immigration officer will assess your readiness and ability to comply with the sponsor duties and obligations. They may ask questions, review documents, and evaluate your HR and recruitment processes. We will assist you throughout this process.

7.    Application Decision: Following the assessment of your application and compliance visit if conducted, the Home Office will make a decision on whether to grant the sponsor license. This process takes approximately 6-8 weeks and you will be notified of the decision by email.

8.    License Management and Compliance: Once you receive the sponsor license, you must actively manage and maintain compliance with the Home Office's requirements. This includes assigning correct Certificates of Sponsorship to sponsored workers, reporting any changes or updates through the SMS, and ensuring ongoing adherence to sponsor duties, record-keeping, and reporting obligations. We will assist you throughout this process.
